About

Hi, I’m Dr Anja Ali-Haapala. I’m a dance researcher and educator who lives in beautiful Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia. I initially trained as a dancer and now, as a community teacher/facilitator, my goal is to foster joy in moving and connection between people. Along the way I got sucked into the wonderful world of research, where I unpick the intricacies of how people experience dance as audience members and recreational dancers. I learned the art of cake decorating when I was supposed to be writing my PhD thesis and consider myself to be an expert procrastibaker.
